In de huidige consumptiemaatschappij zijn het vooral financiële en materialistische waardes die verbonden lijken aan mode en design. In samenwerking met Ontwerp Platform Arnhem en Numéro Netherlands ging Fashion + Design Festival 2022 tijdens een debat met diverse ontwerpers in op minder bekende waardes als sociale, esthetische, culturele, emotionele, ecologische en ethische waardes. Dit resulteerde in een interessante avond met een waardevol gesprek tussen Numéro’s hoofdredacteur Timotej Letonja en drie aan FDFA’22 verbonden ontwerpers.

Lu Lin

Lu Lin is an artistic researcher and practitioner in the intercultural context. Lu graduated from ArtEZ (NL) with a Master’s in Critical Fashion Practices and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design from China Academy of Arts(CN). Based on her experience of interacting with textiles and clothing, she utilizes textiles as an alternative narrative language and germinates its strength of softness and collectiveness. 

As a researcher in the field, Lu aims to formulate the composition of safe spaces and contextualize complicity from within drawing on intersectionality and feminism. Her works are driven by social alienations in the era of fluidity, showcasing how the segments of everyday life take shape identities. In order to keep a close connection with the people, she integrates participatory approaches into pedagogical scenarios and interdisciplinary media for creating a more engaging and thoughtful society and constituting possible interdependence within marginalized communities.

Maaike Broos & Mirte Engelhard

Modeontwerpster Mirte Engelhard en filmmaker & organisatie antropoloog Maaike Broos bundelen hun krachten met hun project ‘Draag je verhaal’ van Stichting Verhalendragers. Hun uitgangspunt in dit project: ‘Hoe kan kleding bijdragen aan het dragen van je verhaal?’. 

Juliana Garcia Bello & Santiago Candelo

GARCIA_BELLO is a sustainable brand based in upcycling methods. Founded in 2017 by Juliana Garcia Bello, (Tierra del Fuego, ARG, 1989) clothes designer graduated from FADU-Universidad de Buenos Aires. The collections are inspired by the Patagonian spirit. Simple, straightforward, everyday. The garments are handmade, reusing dead stock from the textile industry and clothing donations. Giving value to what already exists and is not in use. Stories that speak of their own, a home as land and shelter. The firm is currently working in Argentina and the Netherlands.

Numéro Netherlands

Het blad Numéro verschijnt sinds 1998 in Frankrijk, Er zijn ook edities in China, Duitsland, Japan, Mexico, Rusland en Thailand. Sinds 2019 wordt Numéro Netherlands uitgebracht. Timotej Letonja is eindredacteur van Numéro en Numéro Homme Netherlands.
